Assist program staff to provide support and direct care for child care program, including special needs children or infants / toddlers to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical and emotional growth.  The position day to day duties will be conducive to MYFRS policy and procedures; and to adhere to provincial legislative criteria.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide snack/meal preparation, program preparation, and support children activities
• Drive children for program related purpose
• Maintain records, reports problems or concerns to management
• Provide friendly and supportive contact with children and parents during drop-in.
• Welcomes and orientates visitors for the first time
• Assist staff in monitoring children lunch time, nap time, indoor and outdoor activities and during rest periods
• Assist in children activities; telling stories, teaching songs, leading discussions
• Assists supervisor in planning, preparing or implementing daily programs as well as special events and parties
• Support in the facilitation of a supportive emotional climate in the playroom for children and adults
• Maintains Child Care Program equipment and assists in housekeeping and building maintenance duties
• Keeps program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to management
• Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Assistant certificate (must provide license number)
• Have work experience required for ECE licensing
• Food Safe Certificate
• Verification of current 1^st Aid certificate plus the 1^st Aide certificate for Child Safe
• Valid Class 4 drivers
• Criminal Record Check - Children and Vulnerable Adults
• Community services available in Merritt Knowledge is an asset
